-FIRE WALKING RITUAL-

Tengu Fire-Walking

Furubira Town is a fishing community located on Hokkaido's Sea of Japan coast. The “Tengu Firewalking” ritual, with over 300 years of history, has been cherished and passed down to this day as a sacred ceremony praying for fishermen's bountiful catches and safety. The sight of Tengu in vermilion robes walking over flames continues to illuminate Kobira's night sky, symbolizing the prayers and wishes of the townspeople.
